For many years I have been running a computer at home hosting my email server and web server.
This system is up and running 24/7 so, naturally I wanted a system that is low in power consumption.
Hardware:
- ASROCK Q1900-ITX Motherboard
- SanDisk Extreme 120GB SSD
- G.Skill 16GB(8Gx2) PC-10666 (1333MHz) SO-DIMM
Note: Still have not yet a case for it just sitting on my desk behind the monitor. Yes, a power supply is also connected.
Note1: A monitor and keyboard/mouse was connected only to install the operating system. Thereafter it is a headless system.
Software:
Operating system: CentOS – latest version
Email: Zimbra email and collaboration (open source version) – latest version
Other software: VMware Workstation – running a Windows virtual machine, NoMachine – for remote desktop, Docker – where my web server is hosted
Else: DNS, DHCP services are also installed/configured.
Performance:
Good enough for what the system has to handle.
